Ricotta Stuffed Shells

Ricotta Stuffed Shells

Ingredients

1 egg
1 pkg jumbo pasta shells
15 oz ricotta cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 cup parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Heat pasta shells according to package instructions. I usually cook for a 1 minute or 2 minutes less than is called for. Stir often for first 4 minutes so they don't stick together. Strain and set aside
  2. In a medium bowl mix together the egg, ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese along with the seasonings. Adjust seasonings to taste
  3. Put a small layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 13x9 baking pan
  4. Use a spoon to add ricotta mixture to each shell and add to baking pan
  5. Cover shells with marinara sauce then put a layer of parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese over the sauce
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes

NOTE: I prefer to use a sauce that contains sausage to give it a little more flavor
